Welcome to Two Dads Café, a labor of love and dedication that has been serving the Kingsport, Tennessee community since October 2010. Our story begins with the vision of two fathers, Randy and Charles King, who shared a passion for cooking and a dream of providing delicious food to their community. As a veteran family-owned business, we take pride in our commitment to quality and service.
Our journey started modestly, with our very first catering job being Randy's oldest daughter Natasha's 16th birthday celebration and some small events at Randy's church. It was through these early experiences that we discovered our love for catering. Soon, we realized the need for a commercial kitchen to continue our culinary adventures, and we found our first location at 316 Cumberland St., Kingsport, TN 37660.
At Two Dads Catering, family is at the heart of everything we do. Randy and [Your Name] both have three children, and it was their creativity that led to our name, "Two Dads." This sense of family extends beyond our co-owners to include the invaluable support of our parents. Charles King, Charles King Jr's father, provided financial support, while Hilda King, Charles king Jr's mother, lent her culinary expertise to our kitchen. Jerry and Ann Slagle, Randy Slagle's mother and father, provided financial and help in the dinning room and delivering caterings, while helping us grow into the establishment we are today.
Our journey took an unexpected turn when Steve and Linda Ladd, the owners of the Auction house next door to our first location, asked us to prepare food for their customers during auction nights. This opportunity allowed us to expand our reach and clientele. With each passing day, we opened our doors more frequently, quickly outgrowing the cozy confines of our original location.
In our pursuit of growth and improvement, we explored various building options in the area. That's when we crossed paths with Sam Anderson, who owned several properties we were interested in. He recommended our current location, a building that held great potential but required extensive remodeling. The building was a diamond in the rough, and with the support of our families, it took us eight months to transform both the upstairs kitchen area and the downstairs dining area. Today, it boasts a unique design with a ramp connecting the kitchen to the spacious downstairs dining area, accommodating around 50 guests in the main dining room and an additional 50 in the party room.
As we reflect on our journey, we are immensely grateful to our loyal customers and the community that has embraced us over the years. Your unwavering support has been instrumental in our growth and success. At Two Dads Catering, we are not just a business; we are a family, and we look forward to continuing to serve our delicious creations and create lasting memories for years to come.
